10 consecutive contributions to WordPress

WordPress version 6.7 was released days ago (12 November, 2024) and with this release I achieved a milestone: 10 consecutive contributions to the WordPress core 🎉.

Although I had contributed to previous versions (4.9 and 5.0), it was from version 5.7 that I decided to contribute more regularly. So, from version 5.7 to 6.7, my name appears in the list of contributors.

I remember I thought that would be nice to contribute in the building of a tool I already used and an interesting challenge to contribute in a big project like WordPress. Also, I could learn something in the process, return to the community and build something meaningful. Another fact that motivated me was sees that other Brazilians already contributed to the tool.

My contribution history:

• Contributed to 12 WordPress releases
  • Pull requests to the wordpress-develop repository
• Opened 36 pull requests to the Gutenberg repository (block editor)
• Helped to organize a meetup in Vitória – ES, Brazil.
• Spoken at a WordCamp
• Contributed to translations to Portuguese (Brazil)
• Helped in the Brazilian support forum
• Built some plugins
• Contributed to WP-CLI (command line tool)
• Sent some photos

Thinking about the future, I don’t know how regularly I will contribute due to the fact that I contribute in my spare time. However, if I have a chance and contribute keeps being something that brings me learning and personal joy, I will certainly do my best to continue participating.
